In Piping Plan 22 there is recirculation from a high-pressure region of the pump (typically the pump discharge or the pump discharge piping) through a strainer, a flow control orifice, a cooler, and into the seal chamber.
This plan is similar to a Piping Plan 21, with the addition of a strainer to remove occasional particles.
Strainers are not commonly recommended in piping plans because blockage of the strainer will cause a seal failure.
This plan has not proven to achieve a three-year (3-yr) operating life.
Malavazi NOTE: It is recommended to install flow indicators or pressure differential alarms so that the user is alerted when the filter element is saturated.
For liquids with crystallization characteristics, Quench is recommended due to micro leakage on the faces, otherwise plug the injection connection leaving the drain free to prevent environmental disasters, since the floating ring will act as a safety point.
